Picking Summer Wines?

What do you guys recommend as a good summer wine?  My husband and I aren't beer drinkers, but we are looking for a simple, refreshing summer beverage.

Maggie, Toano

 Hi Maggie,

You can see our answer to that question as soon as you enter Blue Talon Bistro.  We pour anywhere from 6 - 10 different dry rose's by the glass all summer long.  You can find so many good ones that it is hard to go wrong.  We are currently serving rose's from Italy, France, Spain, Argentina and Washington State, but there are scores of good ones out there.

You are looking for 2009 vintage wines; if you can taste them, look for aromas of strawberries and raspberries.  To enjoy in the heat you also want to avoid too much sugar.  Most of the better rose's being made today have less than 1% residual sugar, which is hardly noticeable.  They are great to pair with salads, grilled fish, cheeses, burgers on the grill ...really, any summer food you like!

A votre sante'!
