Wines for Fall??

I love the food that comes with Autumn but I am not a big fan of Cabernet Sauvignon - it is too bitter and tannic for my taste.  My friends tell me I should love Pinot Noir, but that doesn't seem quite right either.  Like Goldilocks, I'm looking for the one that's "just right".

Help?

Heather, Hampton VA

Fear not, Heather - there's a wine for every palate, including yours.  When we talked about your question, Adam immediately blurted out "Merlot!" and then "Syrah!" and then "Grenache!".  I got him to calm down and this is the gist of it.  What you need is a medium bodied red wine with lower acidity than Pinot Noir but a whole lot less tannin that Cabernet.  Any of the tree he mentioned will work, so try some experimentation at home or when you are out to dinner...say, at your local helpful bistro?

Good luck and Bon Appetit!
