What to do without this year?

9 February 2012 -  We understand from friends that the celebration of life, music, food and drink that is Mardi Gras might actually be part of a bigger picture, one in which you are asked to give up or forego things for a period of time to reflect on the value of sacrifice.

We might not be able to help with the reflection part, but we have some ideas on what you can give up!

It's Turkey Trot Time!

It's Turkey Trot Time!

5 November 2011 -  Unless you are the one cooking dinner for the whole family, you have absolutely no excuse...

We know how Thanksgiving Dinner is - everyone wanders around, bugging the cook, grabbing little bites of ingredients while they think they aren't being seen (as if!).  We have a better way for you to spend your time - and maybe even bring home the bacon! (or the pie?)

Here's the story on our Turkey Trot...

An Occasion for Wine

An Occasion for Wine

15 August 2011 - You must have a calendar full of things to do in the fall - it seems we all do.  We think we have something that might deserve a spot on your schedule, maybe even two spots!

For the last couple of years we have partnered up with Williamsburg's unbelievable showcase for artists, An Occasion for the Arts, to offer a tasting of a couple hundred wines and unlimited Lunch Buffet during the day long Art Show.  This year is no exception.  If you don't know how cool AOFTA is, this is your chance to find out - and not go hungry.  Likewise, if you are already a fan, you know how much you need a chance to step into a relaxed, fun tent filled with 200+ wines and all the food you can eat - art shopping can build up a mean appetite!

Now that An Occasion for the Arts is officially a two day Art Show, we are excited to have The Trellis take on Saturday's refreshment duties as they host

You can get tickets for these events right here on our website and at The Trellis website.  Come to one or the other - or both! (Save a few bucks on a combo ticket!)

UPDATE 10/1/11:  ONLINE SALES ARE OVER!  YOU CAN GET YOUR TICKET AT THE DOOR - WHILE THEY LAST!

Spirit Seminars Sell Out!

Spirit Seminars Sell Out!

11 August 2011 -  Ask anyone who has attended one of our 60 minute "crash courses" in fine booze and they will tell you, there's no better way to learn about something than by doing - or in this case, tasting - it.  Our classes have featured presentations by informed professionals and samples of more than half  a dozen examples that help you understand the nuances of the subject at hand.

Whether it is Bourbon, Rum, Madeira, Scotch, Tequila or, coming in September, the up and coming wines of Greece, every month offers a new chance to spend just one hour becoming a little bit more informed on another tasty part of our world.  August's Tequila Seminar was a huge hit, with participants discovering the incredible differences in styles of Tequila, from entry level blends to estate bottled, barrel aged beauties.

In a time when we are all sick of being duped into attending a sales pitch, it is nice to be able to spend a fun hour expanding our experiences and not feel compelled to buy anything when it is all over.  (Not that we're not willing to provide that opportunity if you're interested, of course!)

So, whether you can attend our September seminar or not, keep in mind that one hour on a Wednesday evening can be time extremely well - and tastily - spent.
